Aspire and m:tel joined forces to increase RAN engineers’ competencies through training

In April 2024, Aspire Technology welcomed eleven RAN experts and engineers from m:tel Bosnia and Herzegovina to our Dublin, Ireland headquarters for an intensive training program. The primary goal was to equip m:tel’s radio engineers, who handle daily planning, operations, and optimization tasks, with the skills to use a part of Aspire Telecom Automation Platform (ATAP) – Parameter Baseline Tool. This tool ensures that network design strategies and optimization measures are effectively implemented across the network, enhancing user experience and satisfaction.

The training covered the tool in detail, including its interaction with monitoring and network management systems for the RAN vendors used in the m:tel network. Participants learned how to define and prepare files containing essential information about network deployment strategies and radio parameter configurations. They also explored the creation and maintenance of various baselines, methods to efficiently store these baselines, and techniques to detect and correct deviations from desired network configurations.

Aspire’s experts emphasized the importance of maintaining network parameters according to strategic plans and shared insights from top-performing mobile networks worldwide. They highlighted how this practice significantly boosts network performance scores and overall user satisfaction.

Beyond the Parameter Baseline Tool, the training included discussions on contemporary topics for mobile operators. These included the application of Artificial Intelligence in network planning, capacity management, maintenance, and optimization. Aspire presented their latest research and advancements in these areas, alongside the progress in standardizing Open RAN networks and enhancing the 3GPP standard, where Aspire’s experts are actively involved.

Practical experiences from recent tests and commercial applications of Open RAN networks were shared, offering valuable insights into current engineering challenges and future trends in mobile telecommunications. This exchange of knowledge and expertise is expected to drive further development and innovation in m:tel’s network operations, aligning with global best practices and emerging technologies.

Aspire Technology is deeply grateful for the opportunity to host and train the talented team from m:tel Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a part of ongoing collaboration. The training not only strengthened our mutual professional ties but also fostered a shared commitment to advancing the field of mobile telecommunications. We look forward to future partnerships and continued success together.
